The Stanley | Case Study

The Stanley, previously known as the Railway, is a friendly, spacious pub in Accrington which has recently gained recognition in the local area due to an extensive interior and exterior renovation of the premises. It is now a modern venue that boasts an extensive range of world beers, carefully kept cask ales, value for money wines, as well as spirits and cocktails. It’s also had a fitting name change to pay tribute to the town’s beloved football club.

The Brief

Keen to be part of the plans to regenerate the area, the vision was to transform the pub into a vibrant sports bar and the premiere choice for watching live sport. Therefore, as part refurbishment, the client requested multiple large TV screens to be fitted throughout. Another prerequisite was to supply and install a large retractable projector screen with a HD projector to display highly anticipated live sporting events and for use when hosting live entertainment throughout the week.

The Delivery

To help The Stanley achieve these goals, we opted for 10 x Mitchell and Brown 4K TVs ranging from 50” – 65” framed by an ultra slim, contemporary, near borderless design. 4K TVs have a superior level of colour depth and brightness for clear, vivid images. They were mounted on Peerless flat TV brackets allowing our engineers to maximise the space available, mounting the TV screens only mm from the wall.

Not content with having just a TV offering indoors, we also installed a large screen Mitchell and Brown 4K TV outside in the newly decked Outdoor Area. The TV screen was secured by a TVC Outdoor TV Enclosure, the Perspex shield keeps the TV screen secure and is specifically designed to protect it in wind, rain, and any other adverse weather conditions. With increasing numbers of pubs opting for Outdoors TVs, it’s the perfect addition to complement their new outdoor space and really makes an impact.

To provide an enhanced viewing experience for customers, a 2.4 metre roll-up projector screen was fixed to the wall opposite the bar. Accompanying the projector screen, a state-of-the-art Optoma HD Projector was mounted on a B-Tech Projector Bracket. The 1080p resolution of the HD Projector gives you sharp and detailed images without downscaling or compression, perfect for streaming live sport or for broadcasting content from a laptop.

Finally, powerful audio equipment was needed to ensure customers can hear the sporting commentary clearly even when the pub is at capacity. We decided that 4 x Audac 8” 175W Loudspeakers on swivel brackets were ideal for everyday use. Swivel brackets allow some flexibility on the positioning of the Loudspeakers, they can now direct them towards specific areas within the pub where louder or additional audio is required. An Audac 12” Subwoofer and 4 x medium single unit lighting effects were included in the installation to use alongside the Loudspeakers, perfect for creating a party atmosphere at weekends.

Manager Tina Bishop said: “I’m so proud to be running such an amazing venue – there’s something for everyone – best sports bar, great entertainment and we are doing our bit in the regeneration of Accrington.”
